Modern Indian history from about the middle of the eighteenth century until the present; Significant events, personalities, issues

· The Freedom Struggle - its various stages and important contributors /contributions from different parts of the country.

· Post-independence consolidation and reorganization within the country.

After going through the syllabus and doing a bit of Google search I found the below books that cover the new syllabus.

1. India Struggle for independence-Bipin Chandra

2. A brief history of Modern India-Spectrum

3. Freedom Fighters - Spectrum

4. From Plassey to Partition - Shekar Banopadhya

5. A new look of Modern Indian History- Grover & Mehta

6. India after Gandhi - Ramachandra Guha

Pls post ur opinions on which book are most relevant for both prelims and mains.
