    Default Teaching Astronomy

I find it very easy to teach history as it is more of theory than practical. This year i have been made the president of the astronomer's club. The problem is that i can conduct theory classes very well with regards to astronomy but when it comes to practically explaining the students about it then i struggle. i appreciate any advice to over come this problem.

Just an idea-may not be of much use to you..you may use Google earth to look up in the sky...zoom in the constellations and planets..and explore them as they are...moreover Google has added Planet Mars..so u can see its surfaces as we see for earth. You can use a projector if you like

Google earth is a very good idea, but don't you think that it will be too complicated to understand for kids below 7th standard? I would suggest, you can take them to a space museum. That will help them understand more precisely.

No doubt a trip to the museum will help students know more about space, but you can't call it as an educative and interactive learning. In museums students only get to see and know about space but cannot practically experience it. Whereas you have some courses for students where students get to do exactly what the astronauts do. One such program that i know of is Space Camp India. Here the kids are taken to US Space and Rocket Centre at Huntsville and given hands-on astronaut training experiences. They are also taught mathematics and physics concepts. For further details you can log in to Astronaut Training Experience for Children - Space Camp India

Thank you for the link of Space Camp. I went through their site, it really is a good opportunity for students to know more about space. Infact, one of my student has already registered for the program.
