[I'm posting] Mains Essay Paper 2009

Exam taken on 24th October, 2009, Time: 9 to 12.

1. are our traditional handicrafts doomed to a slow death?
2. are we a 'soft ' state? : look @ the coincidence: same front page story on Indian Express on that day (24th Oct.) how ever too bad that i couldn't read it because i had to leave home early in the morning, or i could have wrote few more things to polish my essay. Click me to read that article
3. The focus of health care is increasingly getting skewed towards the 'haves' in our society
4. Good fences make good neighbours
5. Globalism vs Nationalism

this time UPSC shattered the claims of coaching classes. Nothing that those classes thought to be 'important' was asked in the exam!
i.e. no woman reservation in Panchayats, judges transparency, NREGA, moonsoon, draught, famine, Chandrayaan etc. etc. - not in G/S not in Essay.

it definitely boost up those confidence who preparing without coaching classes.........for myself it proves coaching is not necessary what actually matter is ur hard work and dedication towards exam

Mrunal what is ur veiws for thsi year GS paper its not at all conventional .......means aspirant are shattered after seeing such question in examination which they cant even think in there wild imagination............ are u prpepare for it.......(history, and polity section most difficult part of paper) how can one react at such situation

I love this year GS Paper... Way to go UPSC.... Damn good paper and my Faith,Adoreness and Love towards UPSC has increased by this paper...

what is going to be the scoring trend for gs this year? i appeared and dont have any clue....cant even gauge my own performance.....does anyone have any idea?

It's a different ball game when we face the situation.Its easy to call a question very good once we r not feeling the heat ourselves.However things go wrong when it bounces back to us.Anyways, I didn't take any coaching and even though this is the last attempt of mine I found the GS paper toughest and weirdest of all time.The paper was not about important or unimportant, it was all about testing what a civil servant is not expected to know.They are asking "Graphene" to test the general awareness!!!Some problems with the merit of the watchdog of merit system.

Yup... even i wanted to ask.. m an aspirant for 2010.. would like to see the GS paper .. i heard that there is a change in the conventions .. Can some one brief the change and the change that we need to undergo inorder to face such kind of papers
