A Discussion Group cum Study Circle for IO.com members in Delhi

Hi,

We few IO.com members would be starting a self-study group in Delhi. All those who are interested, please leave a visitor message on my profile page mentioning your some contact info. People who have already discussed it with me need not leave their email id on my profile.

Something regarding this will be started on 31st May 2008. The study circle is to suit the interests of Working/Studying people. It shall hold sessions in weekends at venues as decided by members according to their convenience.

First meet will be to introduce ourselves to each other and decide on 'how-to's of things. Meetings would be conducted on weekends and rest of time we can discuss/communicate on IO.com forums and groups. Newcomers and people who have just started preparing are welcome; welcome are also those who have been preparing for a while. Infact, everybody preparing in welcome

As of now, this group will be mostly for Maths and GS in Mains. But I think if people in Delhi turn out, they may meet people with similar optionals. And then they can have their study circles made too.

The first meeting will be held near Dayal Singh College, New Delhi in India Habitat Center in evening at 5:00 PM Saturday, the 31st of May 2008. For details on how to reach there visit its website given below. Its near Lodhi Road.

If you want any further info, please post your queries here on this thread. I shall try to respond to them.

Time: 5:00 PM (this can be adjusted if working junta has problems)
Date: Saturday, the 31st of May 2008.

If there is any change in schedule etc, I shall inform you atleast 5 hours prior to the meeting time by phone/email.

For the benefit of everybody, the time has been extended by an hour.

The meeting shall start from 4:00 PM and shall continue till 5:30 PM. In case even if you reach at 5:00 PM, there is still no problem.

I went to the Indian habitat center gate no 3.No one was there. Though i provided my contact number but i did not receive any call. I waited there and asked from the guards no one gave the information. No one knew about the meet.Alt east roaming there for 30-40 minutes, i came to know one person was there (i think it was aditya) who waited and then went. The sad part of the story is though I have provided all my info, there was no way to contact the persons who are organizing the event as no contact number was provided. There was no person at the gate No 3. No information provided to the guards too so that they can help the participants .So for a person me like it was total wastage of time who had come to the meeting from Noida. After wasting my time, energy and money(though it does not matter much as event was more important) I will think ten times before going to such meetings. Sorry if i am too rude but going so far in crowded buses and with no result, I cannot be more polite than this.
I have some suggestion for the organizers that event likes this at least provide your contact numbers so that the person who are coming can at least contact you.

I can understand this problem. I was there by 3:45. Two people had come and we discussed about this for an hour. In between three other people came and then we discussed for some time more. They left the place by 4:45-4:50.

After that I waited for another 30 minutes. At 5:15 PM, I left the place. I can very well understand your problem. It is very difficult to get to a place like this from NOIDA (I understand this problem, I have done too).

And finding no one is something more than frustrating, that too I agree with. I am really apologetic about this, as it was on my part that I missed to wait for another 15 minutes when you must have come.

But when I was leaving, I did inform people there (who by the way had a change of duty @ 5:30 PM).

I shall be calling people from the next time before the meet. Your advice is taken. And I understand that no amount of apologies can assuage the trouble which you must have undergone. In fact, 4 of the 6 persons who came there where guest users of this forum, none of them registered one. Only two registered persons turned up at right time, both inactive members of this forum. So I am forced to think twice (not ten times ) before conducting such event. And this time round, it wasn't so well planned as the experience of Himanshu suggests.

But for one thing, we had an initial beginning from today itself. Maths and GS circles have been initiated. And the numbers would be soon provided. And please do not get frustrated, you have a right though for the experience you had today, from this episode. You may well agree that you reached at least 5:15 PM. And the latest update on the time mentioned that it was going to be held from 4:00 - 5:30 and people should reach by 5:15. But even then, it is no excuse for the mistake I did by not contacting you over phone and no soothener of your troubles.

Please Himanshu, as we all are striving for certain goods, do not tend to treat it as a total failure. I am deeply regretful for todays episode though. I shall be posting the details of the same next day.

And next day again we are having this meet. And this time I shall be contacting people over phone, who have given me their numbers. And those who haven't please do so.

Hi People

And regarding the sessions. Today again we will be meeting at the same place. The details have been given below:

Date: 1/6/2008
Time: 4:30 - 5:30 PM
Venue: Open Air Theater, Near Eatopia, India Habitat Center, Lodhi Road, New Delhi.

I currently do not possess a contact number (and the one I had, the landline one, I am not available on it these days). So I would be grateful if you just walked in from Gate No 3. I shall be informing the guards at Gate No. 3 and also reception at Habitat World building.

I hope people do not find trouble in this. But anyway, scrap me your numbers on my visitor profile. Shall make sure to call you in between 3:30 to 4:30 on your mobile number to help you in locating the place.
