is it compulsory for mains?
how many questions from geography will come for mains?

see nethra_b,
you no need to practice any maps in geography.
if you get thorugh of few of definitions its enough.
as i refered to previous years question papers , there was no maps given in g.s. mains, rather than there was some of questions u need to answer.
about number of questions i dont know.
u need to ask officers.

i found one very different question.

for mains, GS, there will not be any questions that require map pointing or drawing maps.

but i would suggest that every one should practice drawing of India map with major rivers. you never know when this will come to your rescue. it is very simple. just practice once a day for five minutes.

i think you can expect questions for about 30 marks from geography in GS, mains.

sir,
5 minutes for practising is not enough. you know why,
so many students they rub & rub the map, if they dint get the rite way of drawing map, they say one word that they have not seen India map.
many of my friends today also they say this dialoge..
