hi i have appeared in mains this year and expect interview call . Experts please advice
can u tell us abt ur optionals....
and the place u belong to in WB.... and ur real name....
hi pratap i am an engineer working in a navratna psu for last six years. i basically belongs to jharkhand. my optionals are history and public administration. how was your exam . what cut off do you expect this year . i think i will got something near 950
thats really gud..
as u are from JH and residing in WB... thr r plethora of current relevant questions which can be asked.... such as tribal welfare, legitimacy and credibility of Naxalite movement, difference b/w tribals of JH and WB, relevance of JH as a seperate state and its politics... paradox of mineral rich as well as relatively less developed state...
depending upon ur PSU (if its SAIL) it can be linked with this also.....
basically u have to prepare each and every thing u have mentioned in ur Mains form....
like many others, I too expect cut off to be relatively lower than last yr which was 955...
because of changed pattern in exams, fetching more than 300 marks in GS would be a herculean task.......
because of lesser no (5) and relatively narrower topics in Essay, it would be difficult to fetch more than 125/130.....
1. are our traditional handicrafts doomed to a slow death? - narrow
2. are we a 'soft ' state? - negative
3. foucs of health care is increasingly getting skewed towards the 'haves' in our society- narrow
4. Good fences make good neighbours - narrow
5. Globalism vs Nationalism - very deep understanding is required
this yr even optional papers have also become lengthy, how it will affect their marking pattern will be worth watching....
considering all these changes, I would anticipate cut off to be slightly going down by 10/15 marks but it will have a great bearing on deciding the final rank in the exam.... so interview will play a major role and only UPSC will decide whom to give what service (sucha as IAS, IFS, IPS, IRS, IRTs etc)....
