Nominated 1 Time in 1 Post TOTW/F/M Award(s): 1 | There are likely to be some candidates who have mentioned cricket as their interest in their mains form. A few questions for them for CS interviews 2007 - 1. What are the ways that a batsman can be out on noball? 2. What are the reasons for INdia wining/losing the world cup? (Depending upon the actual performace of INdia at WC) 3. What is ball tampering? Isn't the act of bowlers to keep rubbing the ball to make its one side shining amounts to ball tampering? 4. Doping in cricket? Is it relevant for spinners? 5. Cricket has creates more couch potatoes and affecting nations productivity? 6. Is cricket sport or entertainment? 7. Is the Indian cricket team representing India or BCCI? 8. Is govt correct in issuing the recent ordinance on sharing of signals? Isn't it similar to the example in Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged? 9. Is twenty twenty cricket required to be introduced? Will it not affect the purity of game? 10. Are we neglecting other sports which are ingrained in INdia's culture, viz. Kabbaddi, hockey, etc. 11. WHat is the use of the whole nation getting mad after one sport when it can't fetch us an olympics medal? NB: This is not an exhaustive list. But try attempting these questions they might be asked to those who have written nothing about cricket in their form as the ICC Cricket world Cup will be either going on or will be just over by the time of your interview. " You have given cricket as your hobby, how can cricket be a hobby? Sir, i am interested in cricket since my childhood, i have played cricket at club, school and college level and for my organisation, it very much is my hobby How can it be your hobby when you are a working person It is just not possible?" Sir, i play cricket in the weekends, i watch cricket matches on tv, i read cricket news in the papers with much interest, i visit cricket web sites, Sir cricket is very much my hobby.

Nominated 1 Time in 1 Post TOTW/F/M Award(s): 1 | I was asked the same question in 1995. How can cricket be my hobby? I said that cricket is not my hobby but my interest! (I had mentioned cricket against the column - "Hobbies/interests") No supplementary on this was asked. Thereafter about 3-5 different questions were asked, the most interesting being - "In how many ways can a batsman be out on No ball? I said,"Sir (with a mischievous smile), handling the ball, obstructing the fielder, hitting the ball twice." But before i could list the other ways of getting out, the chairman of the board Mr. J M Qureshi, said (with smile), "Ok. Ok."

Hobby is something which requries certain degree of pursuation. Therefore we ask, "Which hobby do you pursue?" and not "which interest do you pursue? One of my friends had mentioned "Watching INdian FIlms" against the same column. He was asked the same question as to how it can be a hobby? He explained that he watches them not only to enjoy but analyses thier technical aspects so as to evaluate the films as a critic. I hope I am clear.
