Hi,

I have few doubts on interview preparation/Mock interviews. Does mock interviews really helps?

I feel there is a chance of loosing our originality in trying to follow/imitate suggestions given in the mock interviews. will that not thwart our chances of getting good marks in interview.

Please clarify...

Hi Kishore,

It is true that too many mock interviews kill your originality but mock interviews if taken in limited quantity help immensely.

1) Simulation always enhances the performance.

2) We are able to identify our weaknesses and work on them. For eg. someone asked me "Why do you want to become a civil servant?" and I answered a very long answer. The comment was "You talk more than required and this opens doors to many more questions". So now I am trying to work on this flaw of mine.

3) Further, if we are interviewed on certain issues, we can actually see how we answer on a certain topic(when we know about it and when we don't).

4) To add onto the mock interviews, you can also do some mental imagery wherein you visualise the interview situation and try to anticipate questions and answer them. Even in sports, people do it to enhance their performance.

But ultimately it's your call to make. I believe one formula doesn't work for everyone.

Dear Kish,
Please first of all try to understand the very purpose of Mock Interview..
Some candidates may not good at expressing their good personality which is an outcome from our originality(based on our life practice, brought up, geographical and attitude factors) . Even though they have a good personality, some body lack in expressing the originality.

The lack means, we can classify into two types.,

1.Nerves to express the views due to tension or even hesitation
2.The way of expression may show your views be misunderstood by members.(there is possibility to misunderstand in your view even though your view is correct)

so, you are going to learn the technical aspects of avoiding above two weakness. The mock interviews will help you to answer more perfect, enthus and proper way of answers. But it never extract your originality and never let you loose your originality. If you happened to loose your originality by attending mock interviews something, then it shows that you let your mind to inter penetrated by the things from the out side.(so, you come under a situation)

but even, if we are not loosing your originality after mock interviews, then we are the master of situations.

if we learn to do the interviews more fine tuned by incorporating some new things from the mock interview experience, then we are in the successful candidates' list..
