abhiruchi is also 'ínterest'. 'abhi' in samskruta is actually a preposition. by itself it doesn't mean much.

How about these one-
Can one learn cooking by reading books?
Which cookery books have you read?
Can cookery books be called literature? If yes why? If no why?
Reading as an hobby? what reading? Reading books, news papers or notice boards? How can reading - which is a skill - be a hobby?
Reading for yourself or reading for others- like children, illiterate or blind -what do you practice?

READING
-what do u read?
-which authors?
-why the same author?
-comparison with different authors?
-what kind of book-fiction, non-fiction, contemporary, management etc.
-questions with respect to your choice of subjects of book. for example if you say that you read management books questions may be asked on management. if you say you contemporary books and articles questions may be asked on contemporary issues etc.

COOKING
similarly on cooking you may be asked about the recipes, great cooks, different kind of food preparations through out the world- for example continental, chinese, thai, south indian etc

the moot point is that quetions on hobbies will come out of your answers most of the time. hence you have to try not to give leeway to the interviewer to ask very uncomfortable questions. for this you can ask your friends/ seniors to ask you quetstions on your hobbies

for reading alot of tips have been given.
on listening to music, you can expect questions on singer(s) of your choice, favourite songs, comparison with other singers, contemporary singers vs the oldies, future of indian music, classical music, proponents of classical music, why dont you sing tto? etc etc.

for ornamenta Fish you may expect questions on different kind of fish, thier upkeep and maintenance, their speciality, the food etc. you may expect questions on fisheries in india/world.

as i said questions would come from your own answers so you have to be cautious and well prepared.

Respected Sirs/Ma'ams
Now I realise that I have commited a mistake by mentioning reading as my hobby without thinking much about it.Please suggest me the way to save my face now.
Though I have written the mains in English yet I mostly read Bengali novels, short stories, poems etc.So my knowledge regarding classics of English literature is horrible. So please suggest me a way out.

you haven't committed any mistake. dont worry. there is nothing wrong in not reading english classics. you can tell fearlessly that you are into reading generally bengali books. but then you have to be prepared in popular bengal works, which i'm afraid are quite a few. as a non bengali i have myself read a lot of bengali translations so being a bengali you are expected to be well versed with the popular ones, especially as you have indicated reading as one of your hobbies.

you may concentrate also on the modern trends of bengali literature, the gradual shift from communist and socialist phase to the more worldly aspects. the contemporary authors and their works. aspects about how bengali literature influenced indian independence struggle.

more than half of the candidates would have reading as one of the hobbies. so you will not be alone, dont worry on that count. and dont think of saving face. be clear about what you know and be honest before the board. you will never have any problems.
