IBSA SUMMIT
ibsa is a trilateral development initiative between India, Brazil & South Africa to promote south-south co-operation & exchange the discussions between the heads of state, governments of the IBSA countries at the G-8 summit that took place Evian in 2003. & following ongoing trilateral consultations the foreign ministries of the respective countries met in Brasilia on June 6 2003. Main Objectives :
- to promote south-south dialogue, co-operation & common positions on issues of international importance.

- to promote trade & investment oppertunities between the 3 regions of which they are part.

- to promote international poverty alleviation & social development .

- to promote the trilateral exchange of information, international best practices, technologies & skills, as well as to compliment each other competitive strengths into collective synergies.

- to promote co-operation in broad range of areas such as :
* Agriculture
* climate change
* culture
* education
* defence
* energy
* health
* information society
* science & technology
* social development
* trade
* investments
* tourism
* transport.
