Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | I wish to present the authoritarian, indeed despotic ways of some of our modern day 'leaders', which have, not surprisingly, brought upon the respective citizens great despair, desperation, destruction and death. The nefarious ways of Mr.Robert Mugabe, President of Zimbabwe, is presented in this post. Robert Mugabe was not very long ago, heralded as the symbol of emerging Africa. Not to be..... Amongst the few felonies attributed to Mugabe and his regime are: 1]A serious crisis for human rights: 2]political violence and intimidation: 3] Armed militias and youth gangs have been employed to carry out land seizures and attack members of civil society: 4]His regime’s “slum clearance” targetted opposition strongholds and made 700000 people homeless in 2005: 5]provider of State mercenaries: 6] Persecution of Homosexuals. 7]Politically motivated murders. 8]Barbaric ways of the Central Intelligence Organisation [C I O ], zimbabwe's secret police, who are known to be brutal, merciless while dealing with anyform of opposition by the ordinary citizens or the rival party...... The list really is more or less endless it seems, but the one major fear that most neutral observers seem to agree upon is the likelihood of a Genocide. According to them, there are six stages before the actual mass killings begin. Extremely Unfortunately, Zimbabwe has reached that dreaded 6th Stage, before the oncoming of the mass slaughter. And not strangely, Mugabe's also infamous for his quotes. The following couple that I gathered from a site, will actually give us an insight of the Man's Mindset:- "It may be necessary to use methods other than constitutional ones" "Our party must continue to strike fear in the heart of the white man, our real enemy"! Now the food crisis in Zimbabwe is a widely known reality. It is strongly believed to be what is known as 'Man made food crisis". According to the U.S.Ambassador to the U.N. Food&agricutural agency, Mr.Tony P .Hall," it is at the centre of the worst food crisis in the world today, throughout South Africa, more than 14 million people risk starvation unless something is done urgently". This being the case, Mugabe actually opines rather in a pique manner, "We are not hungry... Why foist this food upon us? We don't want to be choked. We have enough". It is indeed extremely unfortunate that in todays world, of human rights awareness, civilian's rights, electoral rights, influence of Mass media, and so on and so forth and such like, we have people like Mugabe coming to power and perpetrating untold misiries upon hapless citizens. Leaders like Mandela, Head of the state of a neighbouring country will try convincing the American president of the futility of going to war against Sadddam Hussein, but rather not be a very strong critic of equally tyrannical leaders like Mugabe. Yes, Hope Springs Eternal, and we, as the well wishers of the citizens of Zimbabwe will hope that things will change for the better for them. | ||
