They can be avoided by the following methods

a) Awareness of people about their immediate surroundigs:Catching 40-50 people in a huge country of billion plus population is hard harder than finding needles in a haystack .So instead of blaming the GoI we
must try to do our part have minimum awareness about surroundings

b)Effective sealing of Porous borders: We have to completely seal our borders with Bangladesh to control the insurgency problem in the North-east .

c)Effective laws regarding handling of explosives:We have to issue strict laws regarding issue to licences regarding explosive materials

d)Setting up of surveillance equipment in public places

Great topic for debate, I reckon there would be a lot which we will leave untouched on this sensitive yet the most important topic today.
Well, what you mentioned are part of short term bandages we can try putting on the wounds and hope that would heal.

As Kautilya said, " To shed the weed, weaken the roots". Here, we need to look at the root cause of the problem. Unfortunately, when we look at the root cause of the problem, we see ourselves standing in front of a mirror. It is the unrestful, dissatisfied, misguided you and me (read youth) who is behind all this. And read me, we should not segregate this youth on basis of religion. We now have Malegaon if we had others. And the people (alleged to be) involved with Malegaon are far educated, (considered to be) civilized, powerful and established compared to those involved with others.

The root cause is :- till date (majority of) Indians have not identified themselves with India. You first belong to family then community then caste then sect then religion and then if there is some room left you belong to country ( though country belongs to you in every aspect).

So incidents like Godhra, Babri and the bomb blasts are more seen as attack on one particular religion->sect->Community.. on another and not from extremism on life.

We have to come up with measures both short term and long term, which control the damage as well as clear the weed of seperationism. Easier said than done, however, for a country like India we have to choose this path if we need to keep the country united under the umbrella of democracy.

A few short term measures could be (will elaborate in some next post on these)
S1. Make the intelligence more intelligent and deep rooted
S2. Make common man participate and make them feel that they are participating in the security of the nation
S3. Taking paced action on those found guilty : There is no use in keeping those found guilty in cellars and feeding them with nutritious food from taxpayers. There are quite a few who have accepted the charge ( and have no regrets about it). Prosecute (read execute) them and advertise about that in a manner that others think twice before getting into extremism. Human rights forums will keep crying (that's what they exist for). But you loose people anyway; either by keeping it loose on law and loosing innocent many people killed in blasts or keeping it tight on law and loosing a few suspects. I am personally fine with latter.
S4 : Penalize separatist forces like MNS etc

Long term
L1 : Planning our cities for a society rather that communities and religions
L2 : ...

More to come later

I would disagree with that whatever the schism in Indian society, the majority of Indians is proud of his heritage. We did not learn initially but the British taught us in the hard way.

As Abhi said,

The root cause is :- till date (majority of) Indians have not identified themselves with India. You first belong to family then community then caste then sect then religion and then if there is some room left you belong to country ( though country belongs to you in every aspect).

I would agree on this as 1 of the causes, but I feel its not the ROOT CAUSE of the problem.
Majority of Indians feel the way Abhi said. If we go to North eastern states they don't identify themseleves with INDIA and the same applicable in some parts of South India and Maharastra too. They feel they have been left out on many issues pertaining to country. Im not counting them down but its the fate of our nation. Im myself huge fan of the INDIA being a secular, socialist, republic, democratic etc etc and feel these issues have to be sorted out on priority basis before they become the root cause of all the problem.

There is no instant solution for the continous bomb blasts happening all over the country. People involved in these blasts are stricking with ease and with precision indicating the flaws in our security system and Intelligence gathering. They need tremendous planning from the base level and things went wrong have to be reworked upon.

My views on it:
POTA is not the only solution....
Intelligence gathering is one the most important factor and it has to be well rooted and spread out.
Let the work of Intelligence dept be decided by a Bureaucrat and should not involve any politician (for effecitive performance).

A federal Police would help the cause as State Police would always want to take credit on solving the case and will not share any critical info with other states.

Involving common man is also an important factor. This is a uphill task and involves educating a common man on security issues of the nation and removing the fear of "police" in his mind.

All these involves a long term planning. The Bureaucrats and the politicians of our nation need to plan accordingly and sort out issues on priority basis.
Also we The common man need to take responsibility on the security of the nation.

Hoping to see India, where everyone feels its our country, where no one is divided on basis of colour, race, caste, sex, economic condition, social condition..., and everyone is treated as same under the sun.....................

I would suggest that India should shift it's capital cities like mumbai, kolkata.

Because if You see in the past they have been frequently shifted by Mughals and we all know that even in Hindu majority stated they administered so nicely. It's all about internal security. Even before British came, trade was developed through Surat Kochi.

I know it's difficult but we have to change. and young generation is ready to take up the challenge. So if not suddenly,Gradually Those MNCs which do not want sea nearby can be shifted to places like Kashmir and other states. Again as in the case of Police services, question come nto mind regarding state-centre relationship but we have to resolve it. Because we don't have dual citizenship like USA. so we can't tolerate the dictatorship of some politicians in some states.

Hello Friends,

Off course by re-introducing POTA. I would suggest India needs more strong laws for terrorists than POTA.
