Importnt Longittudes IST is calculated on the basis of 82.5 E Longitude. Modern prime meridian (Zero degree) passes through Greenwich (UK). In Ancient Indian book on astronomy , Surya Siddhanata, prime meridian was taken as passing througn Avanti (Modern Ujjain 76 E) and Rohitaka (Modern Rohtak city in Haryana). One can easily imagine the "centrality" of this ancient prime meridian passing through India before partition. | ||
