Nominated 5 Times in 5 Posts TOTW/F/M Award(s): 0 | Hi smritee, so you still need clearance in it. Ok let me tell you something. 1. Psychology for prelims is a good idea. There is no doubt in it. It is because increasing and positive results from Psychology option. 2. But in order to take Public Administration as your second option subject, you have to think once. It is because, PA is a subject in which we should have ruling and mastering to handle situational and application oriented questions in mains. These qualities only will fetch you higher(even top rank too). I won't say that it is impossible but in order to master this subject we need to give double study(studying the subject twice with the same intensity) 3. This can be possible when you have opted PA as first option. Then only you study the subject first time with great intensity and you will be having abundant knowledge in it. Now, if you study it for mains with the same intensity then you can handle the questions of application oriented in mains as well. 4. But political science or International relation subjects are not like that due to their less principles involved. Obviously these can be considerable subjects. 5. Among those above two options , you have to ensure that you have GREATER source of materials for the subject, International relation. The materials for International relation is less and even though if you get the material, it can not be upto the mark of UPSC. This may put break to you at some time. 6. But for the subject political science, you do have the materials sources but you have to ensure that it is upto the mark of UPSC. 7. And even people who take Public administration as 2nd option also clear the exam, but they might have studied it for atleast one year or might have given more than one attempts. But materials for PA is abundant and upto the mark of UPSC. 8. So my suggestion of pairs of options preference selection as follows., i) Psychology and Political Science or ii) Psychology and Public Administration or iii) Psychology and International relation or iv) Psychology(prelims), Political science and PA(mains) or v) Psychology(prelims), Political science and International relation(mains). The choice is your now. Hope you have got your answer. All the best....
