    Question Choosing optionals for prelims_and_mains

    Hello everybody,

I am Shiva Prasad and have done B.Sc(Maths, Physics and Chemistry).

Currently working as Software engineer in Wipro Technologies. And also

doing M.S in software engineering through collaborative programme

between Wipro and Bits. But my ambition in life is to become a I.A.S

officer so that I can do service to our country.

Here I need help from you people in

choosing optionals which take less time. I am thinking

of taking any of these following.

    1). public administration,

    2). Geography,

    3). Psychology,

    4). Philosophy, and,

    5). Anthropology

I am requesting all the officers to help me in choosing optionals for

    prelims and mains.

    Thank u one and all.

    Have a great time.

    Cheers,

    Shiva Prasad.C.

I think Geography and psychology shld be okay as these are the ones that are closest to your education. Also Geo and Philosophy can be evaluated if you have good language skills.

Default How about Public administration and Psychology

How about public administration and psychology as my optionals ?

Is Geography a good scoring subject ?

If I take either Geography and Public administration (or) public

administration and psychology as optionals, how much time does it take

for me to prepare for civils as fresher to these subjects ?

What I feel is public administration is very useful to the field(officer)

into which I am aspiring to join.

As a working professional I get very less time to prepare. Please

suggest me the best optionals to choose.

    Thanks you alot.

    Regards,
    Shiva Prasad.C

Dont worry about what is useful in field. They will any make u learn it at the academy. Then u have to unlearn everything and start afresh in the field!
Just be a professional student and choose those subjects which suits you. I had suggested Geography as it is much more objective than others. Subjects like pub ad, Philosophy, psycho ect are subjective. You being from Maths-physics background, geography will suit you. About oter subject you have to decide depending upon availiability of reading materila and your interest. Time reqd for preparation is inversely proportional to your interest in the subject!

    Thank you Ganesh Sir,

Now I realised and ready to go with Geography as one of the optionals.

In the same manner please advise me in selecting second optional from

public administration and psychology(As I am interested in these).

And Can you please advise me in taking Anthropology as

    optional for Civils ?

    Kindly reply to this.

    Default Chosing optional

    Greetings Everyone!

    Need confirmation.

    For Primls: Public Administration
For Mains: Public Administration and Anthropology.

Is this combination valid. Any information on this would greatly be appreciated.

    Regards!

Hello Kant, Do not eat up other's thread, or else searching at Indian Officer would get difficult. Kindly start another thread (Topic) for your issue at appropriate forum.

    Exclamation Choosing optionals for prelims_and_mains

    Hi,

Being a project engineer at Wipro, interested in doing service to our

    country.

Hence I decided to attempt civils.

I need assistance/advise from officers in choosing optionals for prelims

    and mains.

Background is B.Sc (Maths, Physics and Chemistry).

Please advise me in choosing two of these following...

    1). Public administration,
    2). Geography and
3). Psychology. (If any please specify other than these)

Please advise me in choosing two out of these three with constraints

as less time for preparation and requires no training(self study).

    Thanking you,

    With Love,
    Shiva Prasad.C.
