Krishna Patnam Port
Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, Chairperson of UPA, inaugurated the largest port in India at Krishna Patnam Village, Muthakuru Mandal in Potti Sri Ramulu Nellore District, Andhra Pradesh, on 17th July, 2008.
The port will have the capacity of 125 million tons of goods after completion three phases of construction. It is poised to become the largest port in India... one of it’s kind in India…
The Krishna Patnam Port is situated near by 25 K.M. to the National High Way No.5. The High Way is connected with 4 line road way. It is also connected with Chennai Air Port by a distance 180 kilo meters and Renegunta (Thirupathi) Air Port by a distance of 120 kilo meters.
The railway track is being constructed to connect the busiest national railway line.
The port is being developed in the area of 5000 acres to meet the future needs.
The port will be completed in three phases by the end of 2012 or by 2014 at any circumstances with an estimated cost of Rs.7000 crores.
In the first phase four berths are completed to facilitate for both imports and exports. 2500 tons capacity of conveyor belts and harbor cranes are arranged in the port.
The port has 23 lakhs square feet of open space for storing dry cargo and 50,000 square feet of closed good downs for storing paddy, wheat….
