I don't know whether this is a media thing of adding up 2 and 2, or if its really a cause. And the state CM, keeping coalition onsiderations in mind, couldnot/did not take adequate steps. I wonder how many more times such 'considerations' will have to be taken care of? Another eg. is not having an egg a week for mid-day meals as originally proposed (in Karnataka only). Thx for highlighting the issue, it was indeed very disturbing.

When some parts of Bangalore were affected(with Muslim majority)..the other parts were normal. certain facts are to be ascertained here.... While the Hindu Mahotsava was scheduled to be held on a certain date, Mr Jaffer Sherrif in order to show solidarity and strength, held a meeting to condemn the killing of Saddam Hussein. The timing was imperfect...soon the hooligans began to vandalise. The next day as scheduled the Hindu Yatra..'shoba yatra' was held and in retaliation the Hindu mob started rioting. And rest all is evident. ...In Bangalore the Auto drivers are supposed to display their names, addresses and licenses mandatorily....this came in handy for the rioters... Its not the question of RSS's increased activity, but the failure of Law and Order. But the misconception that the government failed should be analysed. The rioting was only for a day.And things were normal the next day. Whether there is BJP in the coalition government, whether the police were inefficient...are all the questions which would spread speculation and eventually lead to blame game. ....But one needs to know the timing of Sheriff's meeting on Saddam?.... One of the hoardings read.."SADDAM, INDIA'S FRIEND"....WHAT DID IT MEAN? On the whole, I do not blame our leaders...I only blame ourselves ![]()

If indeed this hinted at a disaster waiting to happen, what with groups congregating to express 'solidarity' for an incident that happened about a fortnight ago read-Saddam's execution, around the same time, then obviously the administration missed the plot. Rickety coalition is, as we all are witnessing, poor in taking desicions. To expect excellant governance by such governments is indeed wishful thinking.

Earning the wrath of a minority or a majority community is one thing, and actually holding responsible the organisers of such rallies is to be the order of the day.
