I recently upgraded to new update of microsoft on my laptop, and guess what: My laptop windows became an illegal copy.
Even though I had brought that for hefty some of money from TOSHIBA which gives a branded new Xp Home edition.

Now all my calls fails and I am not able to clear the nagging screen, which says I am using illegal copy of windows, and I would not be allowed to have further upgrades.
Grr!

Nope, MS is not for such nasty things. You should check up with TOSHIBA to get another licensed code to activate your Windows.

The MS accepted that they had problem with OEM versions registration. With many calls with support desk at MS, they helped me remove the registry and files to make me a genuine holder of license.
Toshiba BTW does not know a deal about it, and instead requested me to send the conversation with MS
