welcome to IndianOfficer. There are many from us, who had cracked the exam exactly with the background of yours. One of my Close friend, into IRTS was working as CA, settled at Mumbai, but then he quit the job, shifted to Delhi and got through in the 3rd attempt. And he also started his venture when he was around 27.

hi kushal .. thanks for the encouragement .. having taken the mains for the first time, i'm not sure how i will be graded .. personally, i am not v satisfied with my papers but i don't think i did too badly either .. but i do worry about the subjectivity in assessing essay answers .. any thoughts on the assessment criteria ?
cheers, schubho

Welcome to IO schubho
What are your papers?

Kushal what if we can display the optional and papers in the user info section that will put things in perspective while responding.

hi maneesh .. my optionals are history and public administration ..

there are a lot of opinions out there, regarding the assessment criteria for the mains papers .. many endorse a mechanical criteria for example, 5 marks for a main point and 2 for subsidiary points etc ..
while that might allow for better uniformity, it doesn't feel very comprehensive or realistic ..

i would think that these subjects should allow greater discretion to the examiner ..

any thoughts on the assessment guidelines?

i'm not sure if there is another forum for raising this query .. hence for now i'm placing it here .. do let me know if i should direct it elsewhere ..

many thanks.
