nice to know a lot of you are showing interest in the live chat. we in the io.com team had a brain storming session today evening and i'm writing below what we decide on.

firstly, it will be very difficult for officers to come on live chat and answer questions on a regular basis.
secondly, any live discussion will remain purely between two or three individuals participating in the chat. the entire exercise will lose meaning because other non participants gain nothing out of it.
thirdly, we already have forums for each and every aspect. so any doubts can be tackled there. this way, the answers given by the officers and other cs aspirants would be recorded permanently and are accessible to any body even in future also.
fourthly, there will be a lot of repetition in chat as some questions are common to all participants and they tend to ask the same quesion. this means that the officer has to answer the same question over and over again, may be on different days. this will be a great loss of time for the officers.

therefore it has been decided that live discussion may be, atleast for the time being restricted to non-officer members only. which means you people can engage yourselves in chat whenever you please.

as officers we will restrict ourselves to live discussions on specialised topics. the dates for these would be intimated well in advance so that many aspirants can take part.

so thats it.

but then its not that officers wont be on chat regularly. i'll log in whenever i can and so will other officers. but we will not discuss anything related to civil service preparation. we can have a friendly chat about everything else in this world provided there is time. so shalini, kindly excuse us officers that we cant provide you with guidance in live discussion as you have requested. please raise any doubt you have at the appropriate forum. but sure as hell, you can very well discuss about the favourite colour of any officer or may be get tourist information about the place of posting of the officer. i guess the chat i had with satish yesterday is one of those types i've just talked about.

sorry for disappointing you folks. but remember we are doing it for the benefit of the community here.

you didnt get the point. its not only a factor of number of aspirants on the chat. the idea is that we should not by pass the forums. forums are permanent and even an year after a post has been made, other aspirants can make use of it. but in chat, all information remains between the participants. it is unfair to the non -participants as they derive no benefit out of the exercise.

this way the energies of the participating officers would become less effective. further, assume you ask an officer a quesstion during a 1 to 1 chat. he replies. the next day another aspirant asks the same question because he was not privy to the earlier chat. this way, the entire exercise could become repetitive and therefore is better avoided.

we still have forums where we can discuss any topic on the earth like what we have been doing for quite sometime.

and yes, as i told you we are available for any friendly, informal and non-civilservice related discussions.

GREAT !!! It would be wonderful to know about the lighter side of officers here
Even i thought if its going to be civil services help kinda chat, then everybody would post similar questions and it would be very difficult for officers. I think this facility is not only for officer-OIM chat, but also for OIM-OIM exchange of strategies, plans, ideas, etc...
This way our preps could be easier and we can get support from other members too. We can keep up our spirits live, by chatting often !!!!!!
